Gov. Murphy Signs E-Notary Into Law

Gov. Murphy signed a revised New Jersey Law on Notarial Acts which now authorizes electronic signatures.

Last year, e-notary services were authorized in response to COVID-19. New Jersey Realtors^® supported allowing e-notary services on a more permanent basis and not just during a public health emergency.

The revised law permits notary publics to perform notarial acts using communications technology with evidence of a person's identity. The law went into effect on July 22.
